PokerStars – Mobile Table View

The first thing to say is this: there isn’t a mobile poker site out there that can match PokerStars in terms of the number of different types of games offered. What’s more, the number of tables open at any one time is unbeatable too, thanks to the huge number of people looking to play concurrently. In fact, at any one time, there are usually around 200,000 people playing at PokerStars! If you can’t get a game here, you really aren’t looking very hard!

With regards to the different types of poker offered at PokerStars, players can currently play the two most popular types of poker, namely Hold ‘Em and Omaha. While this might not sound like a huge range, you have to remember that these come in many different forms, making every game a different experience. PokerStars is a constantly evolving site though, so they will undoubtedly add new forms of the game to the app should they see demand rise for it.

But what are these different forms we talk of? Well, games can come in the form of Zoom! Poker, cash games, huge tournaments or sit & go tournaments. These cash games can then be further split into heads up (a two player table), 6 or 9 person tables. They can also be short-stacked, turbo or hyper, and come in a huge number of different buy in amounts. Sit & go tournaments can have knockouts and bounties, while regular tournaments can encompass thousands of players, or just a few playing for huge stakes (like the SCOOP 2014 tourney).

Zoom! Poker is also worth talking about briefly, as it is one of the most popular features ever introduced on the PokerStars website. It allows you to play a hand and, once you have folded, get whisked off to another table and dealt in again. This means that there is no waiting around for the hands to finish, therefore meaning that you can play about 4x as many hands as normal. Most major poker sites now offer this feature, but we think that the best is found right here, at PokerStars.

So, when it comes to variety of games, there is no doubting that PokerStars is the place to come – 50,000,000 people can’t be wrong, can they?

Bonuses and Promotions

PokerStars First Deposit Bonus

Bonuses form a massive part of why some people choose a particular site to play at. PokerStars offers a number of great bonuses and promotions to both new and established players, plus they are always introducing new and innovative ways to make playing mobile poker even more enjoyable. Below is a list of the current bonuses and promotions found at PokerStars Mobile:

  • 100% Welcome Bonus. When you make your first deposit, PokerStars will match the deposit, up to a value of £400. Make sure you use the code STARS400 when depositing to get this bonus.
It should be noted that this bonus won’t be released at the time of depositing. Instead, it will be relinquished in increments, every time you earn 300 VPPs. There is a limit of 4 months for you to earn these VPPs – if you haven’t earned them by then, the rest of the bonus will be forfeited. This is pretty standard for most poker sites, so don’t think you are getting short-changed by PokerStars.

  • Free $20 on first deposit. If you would rather get some instant cash, instead of waiting for enough VPPs to be earned, you can choose this bonus instead of the above one. When you deposit at least $20, an extra $20 will be placed into your account within 36 hours. You’ll also get a ticket for entry into the $100k Privilege Freerolls. Use the code FREE20 to claim this bonus.

  • Free £20 on first deposit. If you prefer to deposit in pounds, this is the one for you. When you make a first deposit of just £10, you’ll get £20 free – although it will be credited to your account in two stages, and you’ll also have to earn 40 VPPs before each instalment is released. You’ll also get entry in the $100k Privilege Freerolls. Use the bonus code 20FOR10.

As you can see, this means that there are three different welcome bonuses to choose from, so which is the best? We would choose the first one, as it offers the biggest potential bonus, even though you have to play a lot to get it. If you know you won’t be playing a huge amount, go for the third though, as 40 VPPs won’t be tough to get at all, and £20 is more than $20.

The other promotions/bonuses on PokerStars are:

  • Follow Rafa. Rafael Nadal is one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and he is also an ambassador for PokerStars. If you follow him as he learns the skills needed to play poker, you will have the opportunity to win loads of prizes.

  • PokerStars VIP Club. Every new player to the site is automatically given entry into the PokerStars VIP Club. This allows you to collect points every time you play, which can then be traded for prizes, free tickets and extra cash in your account. The higher the level you get to, the more points you’ll earn while playing. Could you earn enough points to get the Porsche Caymen S?

  • Mission Week. At the beginning of every week, PokerStars sets a number of missions for players. Opt-in to one mission per week using the Star Code, and if you complete it you’ll win some great prizes, such as tickets to some massive tournaments.

  • PokerStars Women’s Club. As the name suggests, this is for women only! Female players can compete for exclusive prizes, or simply get to know other poker fans. There is also a great play money section here, in order to encourage more women to come and learn how to play poker, due to the fact that poker is still without doubt a male oriented game. Check our article on the PokerStars Women initiative.

Banking

PokerStars offers a massive range of ways to deposit and withdraw your money – hopefully you will be making more withdrawals than deposits though! These depositing and withdrawal methods are:

  • Credit and debit cards – Visa, Mastercard, Entropay, Maestro
  • E-wallets – Neteller, Skrill, Paypal
  • Prepaid cards –  Ukash, Paysafecard
  • Wire Transfer and Cheque, Pay By Mobile

It should be noted that those new to PokerStars, who are depositing for the first time, will need to fill out the “Advanced Profile Form” before they can make a deposit to their account. This is found in the Mobile Cashier section.

Performance

Let’s face it — when a site is the size of PokerStars, they are always going to release an app with the best performance possible, and that is exactly what they have done. Everything works incredibly smoothly on both the iOS and Android platforms, plus the apps are updated on a regular basis, meaning that there’s a constant stream of new features being added. Those downloading the app from Google Play will need 23.8 MB free, while those downloading from the App Store will need 38.5 MB.

Support

Let’s start with the less impressive aspect of the support: the fact that they don’t offer live chat support to any of their players. This is a massive no-no in our book, as whenever you run into a problem you’ll have to wait ages for an answer. If they rectify this, they will get a much higher score in the “Support” section. On the other hand, however, the FAQ section is incredibly comprehensive, therefore you shouldn’t need to get in touch with them very often. If you ever do need to contact them, the wait will be worth it though, as the responses are accurate and tell you exactly what you need to know.

Where the Pros Play

If you are an avid poker fan, you’ll know that nearly all the world’s great players have made their home at PokerStars. Players like Liv Boeree, Jonathan Duhamel and Eugene Katchalov all play here, and can be found in games of all limits. So, while playing against the pros might not be good for your bank balance, it will be an excellent learning curve! It will also be a great story to tell your friends when you are next sat around the poker table together…

Conclusion

PokerStars is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best mobile poker site in the world. Aside from the fact that the support could be slightly better, there’s not much else we can criticise at PokerStars. All that is left to say is this: if you love table poker games, you should get over to PokerStars ASAP and download their app — there’s no better alternative anywhere!

Pros:

  • World’s largest poker community
  • Huge range of depositing options
  • Formed in 2001, therefore very trustworthy
  • Where all the pros play
  • Massive variety of bonuses

Cons:

  • No live support option
  • Nothing else we can think of!
